picked up a broken mpc1000 and fixed her back up to health. oh we rockin now
I fell down the stairs today and fucked my shit up. I literally fell down 12 stairs while bringing some old magazines down to the basement earlier, it was brutal. When ever a situation like that happens to me I think “Damn, I could really go for a good meal right about now.” So tonight we will go through the steps of making vegan (well kind of) burgers in celebration and remembrance of me busting my ass.
First off, let’s go over what we need:
You’re going to need 1 cup of oats, 1/2 cups of lentils, 1 onion, 1/4 cup of veggie broth, and your favorite veggies and condiments. Today I went with lettuce, kale, celery, horseradish, and mayonnaise. Like I said, not completely vegan, but hey at least we’re trying here.
Also, don’t forget a good playlist. I went with a collection of some good Dilla beats: Click this for beats
And don’t forget to bring a friend along in the kitchen. Today I chose our cat Snackpack:
Start off by putting your lentils in a pot and add about six cups of water. Let those simmer for twenty minutes or so until you reach your desired texture for lentils. In this case I would recommend letting them go a little longer so you can form the patties easier.
In a second bowl you’re going to mix your oats, onions, and broth. Wait until your lentils are done and cooled before you mix all of them together in a large pot.
This is what one cup of oats looks like in a mixing bowl:
Once you have the mixture complete start portioning out your patties. I used a large mixing/salad spoon for mine and came out with these:
I then put some olive oil in a pan on low and fried both sides of the patties for about 3 minutes or until they turned golden on each side.
When all my veggies were prepared and and chopped it came out to look like this:
and paired it with this:
because every good burger deserves a good lager to go along with it.
